What is a Security Access Control List (SACL)?
These are complex interface intricacies, makes editing and setting them up, very difficult, tricky and perhaps more challenging to do properly. There is a programmable ACL editor available to assist with it. There are discretionary and system access control lists (DACLs and SACLs), respectively. To be found in System.Security.AccessControl Namespace, providing programming elements that control access to and audit security-related actions on securable objects. The SACL is a list of control access permissions and levels.
An usage event logging mechanism and utility. How can a file or folder access be audited, monitored, set-up managed. The SACL cannot restrict access, but cause an event to be recorded in the log when a user accesses a file or folder. Access problem troubleshooting or intrusions can be traced by using these. Tracking resources, getting and giving privilege rights can all be brokered through its use. Determine what logging is allowed and performed, when users attempt to access a file, folder, computer, system or network. Using the System.Security.AccessControl namespace for view, edits and manipulations, or administrative intervention, setting, maintenance and edits. User and data security access management, cryptography, symmetric or asymmetric algorithms, digital signatures and data validation are all enabled and brokered by these.
Creating custom authentication methods and protection of data, access using cryptography, improving security of .NET Framework applications, authentication schemes and classes, access and modify identity information using the principal classes, access control classes, encrypt and decrypt with hash classes, how to view and control ACL’s.
Key Exam Points
- Know what it is and how it is used - the difference between SACL's (audit) and DACL's (restrict) (referred to as ACL's).
- For the exam, study practical and application type, real-life, lab and illustrative examples for ACL's (SACL, DACL), that help you to gain a better understanding on how they are used, what their applications and possibilities are.
- Do the practice test.
